What sets ZigBee apart from classic WiFi is the appropriately long battery life for battery-powered devices (unachievable with classic WiFi) and signal relaying through 230V powered accessories.

Additionally, selected ZigBee devices (powered by 230V mains) become part of a Mesh network. This means that if a particular module cannot connect directly to the ZigBee gateway, it communicates with it through the nearest other accessory in the system. Devices powered by 230V, such as PSMART, Aqara, OXT, Sonoff, TUYA, 230V sockets, or light bulbs, act as repeaters in the ZigBee ecosystem.

This allows for the creation of an extensive network that can operate over much greater distances than classic WiFi.
